Shift Leader

Department: Front of House
Location: Princeton, WV

 

Required 36-40 hours/week

This is a non entry level position and we expect a strong work ethic and solid people skills on day one.

Objective:

The Shift Leader manages expectations to consistently provide remarkable experiences for each guest, all day, every day. This position focuses on the daily operation of the restaurant through effective leadership/management of staff positioning, hospitality, and cleanliness. This position works closely with the Director of Operations to ensure operational goals are met and that our team members are equipped and led to be successful.

1. Hospitality:

a. Ensure that table touch-ins are executed by our team every 15 minutes.

b. Check restrooms every 30 minutes and refresh after peak periods.

c. Check/maintain restaurant exterior every 60 minutes.

 

2. Shepherd the team:

a. Position team members correctly to execute restaurant goals.

b. Coach and encourage team members in order to foster growth.

 

3. Performance:

a. Ensure DT(drive-through) window time is = 30 seconds.

b. Help dine-in guests within 60 seconds of entering the queue.

c. Ensure that the restaurant is cleaned/refreshed at all times.

d. Ensure shift transitions include walk-throughs/checklists so that the next shift is set up for success.

 

4. Organizational Alignment:

a. Connect regularly with Directors of Operations through bi-weekly Ops meetings.

b. Communicate daily with fellow shift leaders to convey any necessary information and ensure shift changes are executed seamlessly.

 

Summary of Expectations:

Oversee/implement the following components.

1. Operations Foundations

a. Food Safety i. Ensure food safety knowledge is foundational learning for all employees. ii. Preserve a safe work environment by ensuring that all Team Members are informed of and respecting the Employee Health Policy. iii. Maintain a clean, sanitary environment in HOH/FOH to set the standard of excellence, aid in minimizing food safety risks, and increase team morale. iv. Hold team members accountable for executing all LEAN systems (chicken entrees, prep, thawing, etc.) to protect quality and food safety.

b. Equip Team Members i. Create a high-energy atmosphere for our team, modeling a sense of urgency without making our guests feel rushed. ii. Lead by example, setting the standard for doing things the Chick-fil-A way. iii. Communicate any coaching needs to the Senior Director of Culture and Directors of Operations through proper communication channels.

c. Equip Leadership i. Ensure fellow Shift Leaders are set up for success by completing all required tasks and leaving no unresolved issues for the next shift. ii. Complete post shift walk-through for cleanliness, stocking, and overall preparation for the following shift. iii. Collaborate with other Shift Leaders on best practices and areas of opportunity to ensure business growth and smooth operation.

d. Guest Experience i. Monitor product quality to ensure that guests receive the best product through each and every transaction. ii. Optimize guest experiences by ensuring that speed and accuracy are held in high regard without rushing guests. iii. Maintain a clean restaurant that is conducive to remarkable experiences. iv. Ensure strategic placement of team members to ensure optimal guest experience at all times.

 

2. Facilities and Equipment

a. Work with team members to properly steward restaurant equipment.

b. Communicate equipment repair needs to Directors of Operations.

 

3. Financial Performance

a. Effectively manage productivity throughout each shift.

b. Monitor and reduce waste through proactive coaching and by setting the example.

 

4. Organizational Alignment

a. Work closely with the Senior Director of Operations and Director of Operations to ensure purposeful communication and coaching of team members.

b. Ensure each team member understands what is required of them and has the resources needed to accomplish what is required of them.
